Training

Staff, faculty and students are invited to request Positive Space training to develop their understanding of those in the LGBTQ2S+ community. 

Positive Space workshops are developed and presented by members of the Provost’s Advisory Committee on Gender and Sexual Diversity and the USask Students’ Union (USSU) Pride Centre. The advisory committee serves to assist USask in creating a community that embraces diversity and ensures fair, respectful and inclusive treatment of all its members.

Trans Positive Space 201

Learn more about pronoun use, gender identity and gender expression. Those who complete this 1.5-hour session will have a better understanding how to be an ally to those in the trans community.

Positive Space 101—for students

Learn more about pronoun use, gender identity, gender expression and sexual orientation. Students who complete this 1.5-hour session will have a better understanding of queer terminology and an informative look into how to be an ally.

Positive Space 101—for faculty and staff

Learn more about queer terminology, pronoun use, and USask protocols during this 1.5-hour workshop. During this session, facilitators will break down queer terminology to help faculty and staff create a more positive teaching and working space.

To request group training for the Postivie Space 101 faculty or students, or the Trans Positive Space 201workshops, email pridecentre@ussu.ca.

Note: A minimum of two weeks’ notice and 10 people are required to schedule a training session.

Provost’s Advisory Committee on Gender and Sexual Diversity

The Provost’s Advisory Committee on Gender and Sexual Diversity serves to assist USask in creating a community that embraces diversity and ensures fair, respectful and inclusive treatment of all its members by addressing issues of gender and sexual diversity.

USask Pride mugs, socks and shirts

A limited supply of USask pride mugs, socks and shirts are available for purchase in person at the Shop usask Bookstore or online at Shop USask. Proceeds from the sales will go to queer initiatives at the university coordinated by the Provost’s Committee on Gender and Sexual Diversity.
